Bukako Saka reveals his idol at Arsenal
Saka reveals his idol growing up was a former Arsenal winger
Bukayo Saka is a 21-year-old English winger who has been leading Arsenal to win their first Premier League title since 2003. The Arsenal academy graduate has been one of the emerging figures in club’s resurgence to the top.
The winger has scored 11 goals and provided nine assists so far this season, making him one of the most clinical forwards in Europe. His inspiration comes from former Gunner, Alexis Sanchez who made a name for himself as one of the most feared wingers in the Premier League.
The 34-year-old might be playing twilight years at Marseille but Saka admits him to be his idol growing up.
What did Saka have to say?
In an interview with the Evening Standard, Saka said: “The way I play, I’m always going to attract contact. I watched Alexis Sanchez a lot growing up. He was a special player, I loved many things about him.
“That’s one of the qualities he had — he always got up, fought to the end. You could say I took that from him, but at the same time I have my own goals and ambitions. That’s also [part of] my drive.”
Alexis was a popular name amongst the Gunners before switching alliances as he joined arch-rivals Manchester United. At Old Trafford he became one of the highest earner in the English top flight but on the pitch, the Chilean experienced the worst form his life.
His career went downwards since then, as he joined Inter and flopped again before moving to Marseille.
The 34-year-old has scored 10 goals and assisted once in the Ligue 1 this season, however, his best days are now behind him.
