In tonight’s game at Arrowhead Stadium, Patrick Mahomes showed he can perform without Travis Kelce. He’s the reigning NFL MVP and in the first half, he completed 12 of 17 passes for 147 yards, getting two touchdowns. The Kansas City Chiefs were up 14-7 against the Detroit Lions at halftime in this year’s season opener.

One of Mahomes’ touchdowns was a 4-yard pass to Blake Bell. Blake stepped in for Kelce, who couldn’t play because of a knee injury. Mahomes set up this touchdown with a great 34-yard throw to Marquez Valdes-Scantling when they were in a tough spot, needing 17 yards. Then, he threw a 26-yard pass to Justin Watson, making it 1st-and-goal.

After Mahomes got his second touchdown of the night, Brittany, his wife, shared her excitement on social media.

Patrick Mahomes always seems to be doing well, and for Chiefs fans, it’s an honor to watch and support him.

However, this exciting game didn’t end the way the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes hoped. They lost to the Detroit Lions 20-21.

In this game, Mahomes completed 21 of 39 passes for 226 yards, securing two touchdowns but also getting one interception. This was his first loss in six career opening-week games. The Chiefs didn’t have star player Travis Kelce, out with knee problems, and defensive tackle Chris Jones, who was holding out for a contract.

Chiefs will now face the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 for their second game of the season on September 17th.
