Brian Windhorst Brings Updates on Kawhi Leonard’s Future with Clippers
The Los Angeles Clippers is one of the best NBA teams ever but they had a really rough season last year and haven’t won any championship since their duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George joined the team. Even though they both are formidable players, they yet have to make the playoff and get their hands on the championship trophy.
Many peoples in the basketball world are waiting to see them realize their potential and show them a playoff they are capable of. But that moment is yet to come. And by the look of things, it will still take a while before both Leonard and George can work together and bring out each other’s potential.
Due to the downfall of the team. There are some doubts that are arising about Kawhi Leonard’s Future with Clippers and nobody was sure what might happen in the near future until ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst came out and gave some insight.
Both Leonard and George have player options after next year that will permit them to become free agents. That means, in theory, they can both move on unless L.A. does something.
The clippers will have to do something to stop them and make them agree to stay with the team.
“I don’t think there’s any chance that those guys get four-year extensions,” Windhorst said.
“They both can be free agents after next season because they have player options. There’s no chance that they’re getting extended four years. I would be stunned if they get extended four years. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t get extended, though. And that the Clippers won’t make an offer or even a multi-year offer.”
Over the past two years, Leonard has played just 52 games each season. George, meanwhile, has played in 31 and 56 games over the past two years.
Let’s wait and see where they end up in the next season.
