Brenda Tracy Responds to Mel Tucker’s Statement on Serious Allegations
Brenda Tracy, a Rape survivor and advocate for victims of sexual assault, has responded to recent statements made by Mel Tucker. Tucker, who was the head coach of Michigan State’s football team, faced suspension by the university after allegations emerged involving sexual harassment during a phone call with Tracy.
Tucker released a statement on Monday where he vehemently denied the accusations of sexual harassment, that Tracy had raised. He claimed that Tracy initiated the conversation, and he expressed concerns about the fairness of the upcoming hearing into these serious matters, referring to it as a “sham.”

In her response, Tracy accused Tucker of being dishonest and employing tactics she referred to as DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender). According to her, this has been an ongoing issue for several months. She believes Tucker’s statement is an attempt to avoid taking part in the hearing and addressing the allegations of sexual harassment.
Tracy made it abundantly clear that she intends to participate in the Title IX investigation hearings scheduled for October 5th and 6th, offering herself for cross-examination. She also implored Tucker to cooperate fully with the process to address the serious accusations.

On Sunday, Michigan State’s athletic director, Alan Haller, took the step of suspending Tucker without pay, appointing Harlon Barnett, the secondary coach, as the interim head coach, in light of the gravity of the allegations.
Tucker had previously signed a significant 10-year, $95 million contract extension in November 2021. However, it is crucial to note that he could potentially forfeit the remaining $80 million if the hearing officer determines that he violated Michigan State’s sexual harassment policy, ultimately leading to his termination for probable cause.
