Breaking: LeBron James hinted at his departure from the Lakers in an interview
LeBron James thinks he is capable of winning a championship, but it seems like it would not happen with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers lost fourth time in six games. LeBron surpassed Kareem Abdul Jabbar’s all-time score record on Tuesday night.
In his recent discussion with Shaquille O’Neal, James indirectly told Shaq that he would not be winning the championship with the Lakers as he said, “Any Franchise”, “not necessarily the Lakers”.
What did James tell Shaq?
LeBron James, in his recent discussion with Shaquille O’Neal, said, “I know I can play a couple more years. It’s all about my mind. If my mind is still into it, if I’m still motivated to go out and compete for championships, I feel like I can do that for any group of guys, or any franchise.”
It is interesting to note that the Lakers’ forward cannot be traded anywhere else for now, but his contract will expire after one year, and he has a player option for 2024-25. This is the Lakers’ second straight losing season, and they are at their third non-contending season, this could be why LeBron would not continue with the Lakers and may go elsewhere.
Why could James leave the Lakers?
Though, the Lakers can be an ideal team to play basketball with, as he resides in LA and has an interest in entertainment that make LA a perfect home for the player. But the Lakers’ drastic downfall cannot be neglected. The Lakers had a disappointing season, and in addition to that, the Lakers’ pivotal move was signing Lonnie Walker IV and trading for Rui Hachimaru. The team proved to be of no good to the Lakers as Anthony Davis was going through injuries, and Russell Westbrook could not provide much help to James.
Perhaps, this is a sign that ‘King James’ wants to leave and asking the franchise to add players. Moreover, he seems dedicated to getting the championship.
