Braxton Key catches an incredible lob to force the Chicago Bulls-Denver Nuggets preseason game into overtime
On Thursday night, the Denver Nuggets and the Chicago Bulls played what was the most entertaining game of the 2023-24 NBA preseason. Denver trailed 112-110 with 0.6 seconds remaining after recovering from 14 points behind. Nuggets guard Braxton Key then forced overtime with an amazing one-handed banked-in alley-oop tip-in over two defenders. Hunter Tyson, another Nuggets forward, flawlessly timed the lob pass. The Bulls’ defense, on the other hand, was more than ready to contest the play, making Key’s finish even more stunning.
Unfortunately for Key and the Nuggets, they were defeated 133-124 in double overtime. Nonetheless, Key’s highlight finish was the most memorable moment in an otherwise insignificant game.
Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is not placed first in ESPN’s NBA rankings for 2023.
Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is coming off one of the most impressive postseason campaigns in NBA history. Throughout 20 games, the two-time MVP averaged 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 9.5 assists per game, guiding Denver to its first championship in team history. However, it wasn’t enough to propel Jokic to the top of ESPN’s “NBArank 2023.”
After finishing second in last year’s rating, Jokic is a lock to take the top place this season. Despite the fact that the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated in the first round, ESPN chose Giannis Antetokounmpo. Meanwhile, Jokic was once again ranked no. 2.
According to ESPN, Antetokounmpo narrowly defeated Jokic:
“Due to the controversy surrounding the race, Jokic didn’t care much about winning a third-straight MVP award down the stretch of the regular season.” But he proved who the best player in the Finals was by becoming the first player in history to lead the postseason in points, rebounds, and assists. “The Suns, Lakers, and Heat were unable to respond,” ESPN noted.
“In these rankings, Jokic was edged out by mere percentage points by a fellow two-time MVP big man.”
Many people are questioning what Jokic needs to do to climb up in the rankings. So, in reaction to the announcement of his ranking, the Nuggets provided a simple yet appropriate statement on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The club shared a snapshot of the two-time MVP carrying the NBA title and Finals MVP trophies from 2023. The Nuggets, on the other hand, did not include a caption because the image speaks for itself.
