Brandon Staley was in an awful mood during Sunday’s press conference.
Brandon Staley’s job has been in peril for some time, and the Los Angeles Chargers head coach didn’t help himself by losing 23-20 to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
It was another classic Chargers game: while seeming to be the more skilled team, they needed help to control the game, never looked like they were overwhelming the inferior opponent, and eventually found a way to lose an easy game once again. This has become standard procedure under Brandon Staley’s leadership, and the team presently has a 4-6 record.
However, the head coach had a horrible news conference following the game. Staley, clearly agitated, ordered reporters not to “ask this question again” when asked if he would continue to call defensive plays. He also stated, “he isn’t here to talk to the fanbase.”
His remarks enraged NFL fans on social media:
Brandon Staley should have been dismissed by the Chargers a long time ago.
This is a moderately heated take. After three years under his direction, it’s evident that the Los Angeles Chargers need a decent head coach and must start over.
The 2021 season, Justin Herbert’s greatest thus far, had its ups and downs like the head coach’s first year. What drew the most attention, however, was Brandon Staley’s rash decision to go for a fourth-down conversion.
This tactic resulted in poor play in a must-win game against the Las Vegas Raiders in the last week of the regular season. The Chargers lost that game and did not go to the playoffs, but their divisional opponents did.
WOW: #Chargers head coach Brandon Staley is PISSED OFF and then he started going after this reporter

Every reporter needs to start asking him the same question

Staley is obviously scared for his job.

Dude has wasted Herbert’s elite QB play for long enough.

In turn, in the 2022 season, he promised more. J.C. Jackson, Sebastian Joseph-Day, and Khalil Mack all came. Last year, the first two were injured, as was Joey Bosa, complicating matters. However, it does not excuse the fact that the squad allowed 9 yards per carry outside the tackles. Remember, Staley was hired because of his defensive expertise.
In the end, the Chargers have a terrific quarterback and a head coach who can’t get the squad to work despite Justin Herbert’s talent. The time for change has long passed.
