Borussia Dortmund squad depth comes in handy
Dortmund blessed with incredible substitutes
The club’s depth once again came in handy as helping Dortmund to gain three points. It was Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Salih Ozcan, who contributed to goals as substitutes.
Bynoe-Gittens miraculously scored within 70 seconds of being on the field. Julian Brandt secured the win by doubling their lead. This was the tenth time a substitute scored for Dortmund this season in the Bundesliga.
What does the manager have to say?
Talking about the influence of his substitutions, Dortmund manager Edin Terzic said, “It’s the quality of the squad. We’ve emphasized that on several occasions. There are guys who start the game for us, there are guys who finish the game, and there are guys who decide the game for us.”
He added, “It’s the tenth time in the Bundesliga that the guys off the bench have been able to score. We’ve seen it in the Champions League and the Pokal as well. It’s extremely important that we can react to all the circumstances in the game. We hope we can continue to rely on such a strong bench.”
Since the majority of the squad is back to full fitness, the German club is ready to test the quality of their squad. Dortmund’s next challenge comes in the form of Chelsea as they prepare for the first leg on Wednesday.
