Bob Huggins’ Daughter Outrages West Virginia’s President after Her Father’s Resignation

Bob Huggins, the coach who recently announced his resignation and retirement after being arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in Pittsburgh, has caused quite a commotion. Now, his daughter, Jacque, is speaking out on Facebook and expressing her frustration with West Virginia President Gordon Gee and the university’s board for the way they handled the situation.

In a long post on Facebook via On3’s Griffin McVeigh and Mountaineers B12C, Jacque Huggins criticized Gee and the board, saying they should have acted with more understanding and compassion. She called on them to improve their behavior and treat people better. Jacque feels they have treated her father, the players, the staff, and the supporters poorly and accuses them of being hypocrites, backstabbers, and cowards.

Jacque also shared that her father offered to go to rehab, even though he doesn’t consider himself an alcoholic but just drinks like 90% of people do. (Based on a Gallup poll conducted in 2021, it was found that 60% of American adults admitted to consuming alcohol. However, a significantly more pressing concern arises when individuals purportedly operate a vehicle while being nearly three times over the legal alcohol limit).

She thinks the more important issue should be that he was driving when he was almost three times over the legal alcohol limit. However, the university didn’t consider his offer and instead gave him only 30 minutes to decide whether to resign or be fired.

She also explained that when the police found beer cans around, it was because her father collects them to recycle, not because he was drinking excessively. Jacque believes that no one else will care about the university, the players, the state, and the culture as much as her father does.

Jacque acknowledged her father’s mistakes but wants people to remember all the good he has done. She believes he is a generous person who would do anything to help others.

It’s important to note that this is not the first controversy involving Bob Huggins. He was previously suspended and had his salary reduced by the university after using an anti-gay slur during a radio interview last month. This might have influenced how the university responded to the recent incident, possibly making them less forgiving.
