Krafton, the developer of the BGMI, has released a roadmap for the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Esports 2022. A total of four tournaments will be held in the upcoming year, with prize money of INR 6 crore ($800K).
Here is the list of tournaments happening in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Esports 2022 roadmap:
BMOC – Battlegrounds Mobile Open Challenge
BMPS – Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series Season 1
BGIS – Battlegrounds Mobile India Series
BMPS – Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series Season 2
BMOC 2022: Registration and Format details of the upcoming BGMI tournament
The registration for the first official tournament of BGMI in 2022 will start at the end of February. According to Krafton, the Registration date will feature in the last week of February. After the registration, in-game qualifiers will take place in March, from which 512 teams will further qualify for the first round.
A total of 256 will move ahead in the game from round first to round two. These 256 teams will fight for the next round and 64 teams will advance in the third round. The 64 teams will further battle in BMOC and the top 24 teams will qualify for the next big and first-ever Tournament of BGMI i.e. Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series Season 1 (BMPS).
BMPS Season 1: Qualification process via BMOC 2022
Krafton has announced two seasons of the Pro Series (BMPS) which will host India’s largest prize pool for a single Esports event. The prize money for each season of BMPS is ?2 crore which is a huge amount. The 24 teams from BMOC will battle with other invited teams in qualifiers for BMPS. The top 24 teams from qualifiers will qualify for the next stage of the event.
The 24 teams will battle in the next stage of BMPS i.e. the League Stage, in an extended round-robin format. The top 16 teams from the league stage will fight in the Grand Finale of the tournament to claim the title.
Afterward, the second season of BGIS will be concluded while the last event of the year will be the BMPS season 2.
The popular YouTuber and professional BGMI player, Snax, recently explained about the BMOC and upcoming BGMI tournaments. He compared the Indian tournament of BGMI to Global events like PMPL and PMCO.
PUBG Mobile is all set to feature as a medal event in Asian Games 2022. The Asian Games will be concluded in September in Hangzhou, China. Krafton has recently stated about the inclusion of the Indian team in the upcoming grand event, Asian Games 2022.
Previously, BGMI hosted its first tournament, BGIS 2021, after being re-released in India in 2021. Over 60,000 players had registered themselves for the BGIS 2021. Krafton is hoping for a bigger number for the BMOC as it will feature a massive amount of INR 2 crore. Many teams had changed their rosters after BGIS 2021 and are gathering quality players for the upcoming events. Former Champion Skylightz Gaming and many fan-favorite teams like GodLike, Team Soul, TSM, etc. have started grooming and settling their squads for the big picture.
