Blizzard is Undoing Catalyst Charges in Dragonflight Patch 10.1
In Patch 10.1, World of Warcraft developers are reviving the Revival Catalyst system to its Shadowlands state. This change is sure to make Valdrakken’s tier sets more accessible to new and returning players. Here’s a breakdown of what’s changing and why.
A Reversion to the Shadowlands Catalyst System
WoW devs are reverting the Catalyst system back to the Shadowlands state. In this system, players will receive one Catalyst charge every week, instead of weekly quests that give them Catalyst charges. Additionally, the Catalyst will be free to everyone, instead of costing players as it did in season three of Dragonflight.
The Big “Why” of the Reversion
So, why the reversion to the Shadowlands Catalyst system? According to WoW devs, the Dragonflight Catalyst system was a downgrade from the Shadowlands system. In other words, it didn’t quite meet the founding goals of the Catalyst system: mid or late-season catch-up for new or returning players.
A More Accessible Tier Set for Everyone
With the changes coming in Patch 10.1, tier sets continue to become more accessible for everyone. Now, Catalyst charges won’t be “late to the party” like in season one of Dragonflight when everyone was already running around Valdrakken with full-tier sets.
WoW devs are bringing back the Shadowlands Catalyst system in Patch 10.1. This reversion is sure to make Valdrakken’s tier sets more accessible to new and returning players. The goal of this change is to make the Catalyst system more in line with its founding goals: mid or late-season catch-up for all.
