Billie Jean King celebrates her 80th birthday with wife Ilana Kloss and family
Tennis superstar, Billie Jean King celebrated her 80th birthday in style, accompanied by her wife, Ilana Kloss and close family members.
King won 12 Grand Slam singles championships, 16 in women’s doubles, and 11 in mixed doubles throughout her storied career, for a total of 39 Major trophies. Furthermore, the former World No. 1 changed the face of women’s tennis by establishing the WTA in 1973.
Billie Jean King celebrated her 80th birthday on social media, sharing photos of her personal birthday festivities with her wife, Ilana Kloss, and family members. The American showed off her tennis skills before gleefully cutting a cake cooked by her niece.
“Tennis with my wonderful family, followed by cake baked by my talented niece, @larabeesays.” Nothing more could be desired. I am quite fortunate. “80, I’m ready for you,” she said in the caption of her Instagram image.
The former World No. 1 also sent a poignant note, thanking her loved ones and hailing her marriage to her wife as the “best gift.”
“I am 80 years old today.” Relationships are essential. I consider myself lucky to have spent my entire life surrounded by loving ones. Every day is a new adventure for me. My favourite present is Ilana by my side. Making opportunities for others makes me really pleased. “And I’m not done yet!” she wrote in the description of her Instagram image.
