Bernd Leno backs former club to win the Premier League title despite bad blood
Leno tips Arsenal to win the league despite his sad departure
Former Gunner’s no.1, Leno, insists that Arteta will lead Arsenal to Premier League glory this season.
Last summer, the German goalkeeper left for Fulham after being out of favor at the Emirates, suggesting his departure was influenced by “politics.”
Such remarks came as a shock to the Gunners boss as Leno ended his 4-year long stay at Arsenal by putting the blame on his fellow teammates and former employers.
What did Leno have to say about Arsenal?
The 31-year-old shot-stopper told Standard Sport: “I don’t have toxic [feelings] or bad energy for Arsenal. It didn’t end in the perfect way, but my reception at the Emirates was really good. I get fans coming up to me saying, ‘thank you for your four years… you were very good’.
“I was really happy with my performances. Even when they dropped me, I did nothing wrong. I came through the front door and I left through the front door. I still have a connection to the club.”
Leno’s opinion on whether Arsenal can hold on to their position over Manchester City: “I hope they do it, I think they can.”
Leno’s time at Fulham
Fulham currently stands at a respectable seventh position, as they aim for qualifying for the Europa League.
He added, “I didn’t go to the World Cup because I didn’t play at Arsenal and then the World Cup was in November.”
“I can accept that. But, hopefully, in March, in the summer, or maybe next season, I can go back. That is a target for me.”
