Bellingham is irreplaceable at Dortmund
English Midfielder, Jude Bellingham has been one of the key players in Borussia Dortmund over the last couple of years. The 19-year-old has captained the team on several occasions as well. However, his splendid performances at the FIFA World Cup last year attracted attention from clubs around Europe. On the other hand, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl admits that he wants to see the teenager stay at the club “for a long time”.
What did Kehl have to say about Jude?
“There have been no inquiries at the moment” for the “irreplaceable” midfielder, Kehl said, while speaking to Sky Germany.
“If you saw him last weekend, with the focus and the passion that he has on the pitch (you’d see) that he is irreplaceable for us at the moment.”
The Sporting Director admitted that the club would try its best to convince the Englishman to stay longer. However, he could not promise the same.
He added, “From a sporting perspective, I would be thrilled if the boy would stay and would stay a long time at Borussia Dortmund. But I can’t predict how the situation will develop over the next few months.”
There have been a few reports saying that Dortmund was ready to offer him a revised contract; making him the highest-paid player at the club in order to extend his stay. However, Kehl denied any such speculation made by the German press. He insisted that “the lad is totally focused, on Dortmund.”
“The lad is totally focused on football, on Dortmund,” he insisted.
Bellingham was not included in the line-up for the match against Mainz which Dortmund won 2-1 with a late winner. This came as a result of a prior booking during a win against Augsburg on Sunday. However, he will be available for selection on Sunday as they come up against Leverkusen.
