Bayern sack Nagelsmann and bring in Thomas Tuchel
Bayern Munich appoints Thomas Tuchel after sacking Julian Nagelsmann
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Bayern Munich has sacked Julian Nagelsmann after a string of bad performances. The Bavarian has acted quickly and appointed former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel as the new manager.
What went wrong with Julian Nagelsmann?
Nagelsmann, 35, won both the Bundesliga and the German cup in his first season at the club. However, given the dominance the Bavarians have created over the last decade, domestic success is not something Bayern fans get excited about.
Despite, advancing into the quarterfinals of the Champions League after defeating PSG, Bayern has struggled in the league since the start of 2023. After a recent 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern loses their top spot in the league, which inspired the hierarchy to release the German from his duties.
Thomas Tuchel has been out of works since September when the Chelsea’s nee owners wanted someone new at the realm.
What will Tuchel bring to the table?
Tuchel will be expected to lead Bayern to win the Champions League just like what he did in his first season as Chelsea boss. As a matter of fact, Tuchel will face Manchester City in the quarterfinals this year, the same side he defeated in the 2021 final with Chelsea.
