Bayern is interested in Kane despite Choupo-Moting’s renewal
Bayern’s stance on Kane remains unchanged despite extending Choupo-Moting’s contract
Eric Choupo-Moting’s contract renewal will have no influence on Bayern’s hunt for Spurs’ Harry Kane.
This was confirmed by Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic after he renewed Choupo-Moting’s deal until the summer of 2024.
The German club has been linked with the Spurs striker ever since their long-time striker Robert Lewandowski moved to La Liga to play for Barcelona. Despite bringing in Sadio Mane to fulfill the role of striker, Choupo-Moting has been the most prolific man up top.
The 33-year-old has featured 17 times in the league in which he has found the back of the net 10 times. Salihamidzic is eager to see how the forward further develops while the England captain arrives in the summer.
What did Salihamidzic have to say?
“We’re glad we have Choupo. I can’t say what will happen in the summer yet,” he said while talking to Sky Sports Germany.
Talking about whether Choupo-Moting’s renewal influences the deal for Kane, Salihamidzic added: “Nothing, that’s nonsense. That’s not our consideration at all.
“First of all, we extended Choupo. I hope he’s the same, keep going, keep scoring and then we’ll see.”
Bayern currently stands league leader after 23 games in the Bundesliga. They stay clear of Dortmund on goal difference after Saturday’s 2-1 win over Stuttgart.
