Barcelona Captains want Messi to return to Barcelona

Barcelona players talk about Messi returning home

Barcelona players are getting more and more vocal about Lionel Messi possibly coming back to the Camp Nou. Club captains, Sergi Roberto and Ter Stegen and Ronald Araujo are all eager to have the Argentine back in Barcelona where he became a legend.

Roberto understands the lack of love Messi gets from the PSG base and wants the prodigal son to where it all began. Barcelona keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen shared that the dressing room lightens up whenever there is talk to Messi coming back.

What did Roberto say?

“[We will welcome him back] with open arms,” Roberto told Gerard Romero.

“Who isn’t ready to have Messi back?” he asked. “We don’t want to talk much about it because the person who has to decide is him, the president, the coach or whoever, but if it is for the players, we are waiting for him now.

“The treatment he receives in Paris? We don’t understand why. He’s having good seasons in Paris, scoring many goals and assisting,” Roberto said.

What did Ter Stegen have to say?

“If Messi doesn’t come back, it will be bad because he has done great things over here in the last few years,” Ter Stegen said.

The German shot-stopper added, “Everyone is happy whenever they hear his name linked with Barcelona.”

Words from Ronald Araujo

Ronald Araujo has highlighted the importance of Messi at the club and what he brings on the table. He stated that the Argentina could lead the club to yet another Champions League crown.

“I would love for Messi to return,” Araujo stated.

“He is the best player in the world and Barcelona is his home. His return would help us try to win another Champions League.

“I hope there are all the chances of having him again. We all want him by our side,” the Uruguayan added.

Messi’s deal at PSG expires in the summer. This means the Argentina is free to walk away and join Barcelona, but only if the Catalans can manage to pay his salary.
