Balde promises a great future at FC Barcelona
Balde says that he sees his future in Barcelona
Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde has made it clear that he is here to stay. He said that he sees himself playing for the Blaugrana for years to come.
The 19-year-old left-back has been a revelation at the club and has effectively given Jordi Alba a run for his money. Despite interest from various clubs, Balde is expected to renew with a long-term contract and is excited to work with Xavi in the realm.
What did Alejandro Balde say?
“The club and my representative have been met, yes. I am clear that my future is here at Barça,” the defender said.
“My intention is to stay for many years. I came to this house when I was only 7 or 8 years old and now, I’m 19, that’s a long time and I hope it will be many more.”
Balde has been impressive this season which saw him breaking into the first team. Being a La Masia graduate, Balde is passionate about the club. He admitted that he himself was not expecting to be a starter in the left-back spot, that too in his debut season.
He continued, “Last season I didn’t have too many minutes, but before starting this season I faced it as a big personal challenge.”
“I have by my side two great references such as Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso. Logically, if you had asked me this question in the summer, I probably wouldn’t have imagined that I would have played so many minutes, but it went like this and I’m very happy for the confidence the manager has given me and for how everything is going.”
Due to a fever, Balde was dropped from the game against Sevilla. Nonetheless, the young Spaniard will be back again when Barcelona takes on Villareal away on Sunday.
