Arteta wants Smith Rowe to earn back his place
Arteta asks Emile Smith Rowe to prove himself for a starting spot
Arsenal sits top of the Premier League charts with a young and energetic squad. However, one such youngster, Emile Smith Rowe is now back with the squad after a long-term injury. After a serious groin injury that sidelined him for two months, Smith Rowe will add a much-needed boost to the Gunners.
As Arsenal approach the Business end of the season, they will need all the players to be fit and healthy if one gets injured. The Englishman could get to play for a few minutes on Thursday as Arsenal takes on Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League.
What did Arteta have to say?
Arteta expressed his excitement over Smith Rowe’s return to the training: “He knows how much we love him and how much we missed him and how much we need his qualities.”
“Now he needs to prove it. He needs to prove how much he wants to win and how much he’s going to contribute to this team. To be better and to win and he’s gonna have to show that to get on the team.”
The Arsenal boss continued: “We have to manage his load but for sure, he’s in a position where we can use him in the team at any moment.
“Then it’s about how he’s coping with the game in general and whether to take him off or use for the last few minutes.”
