Araujo suggests two players that Barca should sign
Araujo wants Barca to sign two players
Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has expressed his desire to be reunited with club legend Lionel Messi. The Uruguayan has urged Barcelona to bring back the Argentine in the summer window.
Messi’s deal with the Parisians will expire this summer. Despite having an option of an extended year, the Parisians are currently at a roadblock to renewing the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Leo Messi is currently reluctant to put pen to paper on the new deal. Thus, his future destination is unclear as of now. However, the La Masia graduate will love to be back at the club that he calls his home.
What did Araujo have to say?
In an interview with Jijantes, Araujo said, “Obviously [Messi] is a player that everyone wants in the team, [his return] would be something tremendous, something special, I don’t know how things will turn out but of course, we would love it.”
The second player on Araujo’s wish list is his national team partner who currently plays for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs.
He added, “I would sign Bentancur.”
About Bentancur
The fellow Uruguayan had an eye-catching season with Spur, which unfortunately was hindered by an ACL Injury. The midfielder is currently out for the season and will soon undergo surgery.
It’s clear that the Blaugrana will look to strengthen their squad next season, however, they must first find a solution to be under the salary cap.
President Joan Laporta recently confirmed that the club has effectively reduced its annual wage budget by €100m and further plans to reduce it by another €75m by the 2023/24 season.
