Another Lawsuit Files Against Northwestern By Former Football Player
Another lawsuit was filed against the University of Northwestern by its former football player related to the alleged hazing scandal.
Looks like troubles are not going to end for Northwestern’s alma mater this year. After firing Pat Fitzgerald, the former head coach of the football team, the university has been facing lawsuits one after another.
The longtime head coach Fitzgerald was fired after a former player said he witnessed several players being hazed, with the majority of the hazing being sexualized. On Monday several players came forward to take action against the school. On Tuesday one former football player John Doe took it one step further.
A former Northwestern football player who was at the school from 2018-22 filed a lawsuit this morning claiming that the school and its leaders were negligent in allowing hazing within the program. Details here from me and @ESPNRittenberg:https://t.co/KIwG2dvVyj

John Doe is among many others who have experienced sexual hazing and physical abuse while they were part of the Northwestern Athletic Program from 2018 to 2022.
This time not only Pat Fitzgerald but president Michael Schill and athletic director Derrick Gragg are listed as defendants in the former player’s lawsuit. The lawsuit also includes the university as well as the board committee. The former player is seeking damage in excess of $50,000.
According to the former player’s lawsuit, Fitzgerald “took part in the harassment, hazing, bullying, assault, and/or abuse of athletes.” Where the former coach continually denied any knowledge of hazing during his 17 years of tenure.
