Andrew Luck Opens Up About Hurtful Booing After Early Retirement, 5 Years After Leading 38-10 Comeback
Andrew Luck was one of the most promising players in the NFL, but he got hurt a lot, which made him stop playing early. Fans didn’t like this and showed it by booing him when he played his last game. It’s strange because in 2014, he led the Colts to a big win even when they were losing by a lot.
The way fans treated him was really bad, and it kind of made Luck’s choice to stop playing seem okay. His time in the NFL was over, whether it was good or not. Also, the people who managed the team didn’t handle his injuries well, which made him decide to stop playing early.
When Luck joined the NFL, he was one of the best players to ever come from college. He was really amazing when he played for Stanford University. So, when Peyton Manning left the Colts, they got a lucky break by getting the first choice in the draft. They chose Luck right away. And Luck didn’t let them down. He was the perfect person to take over after Peyton Manning, and the fans didn’t have to wait a long time to see him play well as a quarterback.
Colts Fans Booing Andrew Luck Left Him Hurt
Luck joined the team in 2012, and he quickly became a hit. Before that, the team didn’t do well. In Peyton Manning’s last year with the team, they only won 2 games out of 16 because Manning was hurt.
But when Luck started playing, things changed. In his first year, they won 11 games out of 16. Luck threw the ball for more than 4,000 yards and made 20 touchdowns. He was so good that he got picked for the Pro Bowl, which is a special game for the best players.
But there was a problem in Indianapolis (Indy for short), where the team is from. They didn’t give Luck a good group of players to protect him, especially the guys who stop the other team from getting to him. This means Luck got hurt a lot while playing. In fact, he was under a lot of pressure in more than 1,000 plays and got tackled the most times in the league during his first 70 games.
Luck didn’t just play hurt sometimes, he played with injuries. He never had a strong group of players in front of him to protect him, so he had to be really tough. But he still did really well. He took the team to the playoffs four times, got picked for the Pro Bowl four times, and when he was at his best, he was one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

Luck cited recurrent cycle of injuries as the primary reason.
As he walked off the field for the last time, Colts fans booed him.

But even with all this, some Colts fans were upset when he decided to stop playing. When they heard that Luck was retiring, it happened during a game that doesn’t count much (preseason). The fans even booed him as he left the field. Luck said that it hurt his feelings.
Luck’s Top Performance Shined in the 2013-14 Playoffs
Andrew Luck had many special moments during his time playing, and this made it even more surprising that the fans of the Colts team would boo him. After all, he did a lot for them and their community. It’s hard to understand why they would do that to a quarterback who had done so much for them.
One of Luck’s best games happened during the playoffs in the 2013-14 season. In the Wild Card round, the Colts were playing against the Chiefs. But things didn’t go well at first. They were losing by a lot – 31-10 at halftime and 38-10 with around 13 minutes left in the third part of the game.
But then something amazing happened. Luck led a big comeback. He threw three touchdown passes in the second half and ended up with four touchdowns and 443 yards in total. He threw a winning touchdown pass to T.Y. Hilton with only 1 minute and 15 seconds left. It was a really long throw of 64 yards. Luck’s performance was truly fantastic, and this game was about five years before he stopped playing.
Considering all this, the fans of the Colts were not right to boo Luck.
