American Teenage Making History At Women’s World Cup 2023
An American teenager, South Korean-born soccer Casey Phair is making history at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
16-year-old Casey Phair is the first soccer named to the South Korean women’s national football team. She also became the youngest player in the women’s football in history.
Casey celebrated her 16th birthday 26 days ago before debuting in the Women’s World Cup, she broke the previous record of Ifeanyi Chiejine of Nigeria. Ifeanyi set the record for the youngest women’s player at only 16 years and 34 days old in the 1999 Women’s World Cup.
Casey set another record by becoming the first player of mixed heritage to be selected for South Korea’s national team and made history. Before Tuesday’s match between South Korea and Columbia, Phair didn’t have any success. But still, her historic achievements gained her so much popularity over social media.
Casey has more than 12k followers on Instagram. Unfortunately for Phair, she didn’t get any success in her debut World Cup match in Sydney Australia. She posted on her Instagram and said,
“Although today we didn’t get the result we hoped for, we will work hard to bounce back next game. I am honored to make both my senior team and World Cup debut, and wanted to thank everyone that has supported me to this point – this is just the beginning.”
South Korea will face Morocco in the next World Cup match on Sunday. Casey Phair promised to do her best in the next World Cup match.
