Alijah Vera-Tucker Injury Replacements: 5 players Jets should target after OL’s season-ending injury

Long-suffering New York Jets supporters are already aware of Aaron Rodgers’ horrific Achilles tear, but now there is yet another devastating injury.

Guard Alijah Vera-Tucker ruptured his own Achilles tendon during the Jets’ 31-21 victory over the Denver Broncos, ending his season for the second time in his career. A triceps rupture in 2022, which again occurred against the Broncos, was what ended his second season.

Gang Green will still try to recruit a free agent to increase its depth in the trenches despite having internal possibilities like Billy Turner and the newly returned Duane Brown.

The New York Jets might pursue 5 OLs.

5) Oday Aboushi
Oday Aboushi has previously been a member of the New York Jets, back when he was a rookie trying to make an impression in the NFL. Since then, he has played for a variety of clubs, but his two divisional championships and playoff appearances with the Houston Texans stand out as his most remarkable accomplishments.

He was last seen playing for the Los Angeles Rams during their Super Bowl hangover, blocking for Matthew Stafford and subsequently Baker Mayfield.

4) Ben Jones
After seven years of blocking for Derrick Henry, Ben Jones finally gained the accolades he deserved in 2022 when he was selected as an alternate for Creed Humphrey, who was headed to the Super Bowl. It would be his final campaign with the Tennessee Titans, though, as he was waived in the middle of a growing reconstruction.

The Jets could need a man of his quality who can make more room for players like Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook now that Vera-Tucker is out.

3) La’el Collins
La’el Collins, who was released on September 12, well after Week 1, is the most recent player on this list to become a free agency.

He felt likely to be released despite having a live contract since he had experienced injury problems when playing for the Cincinnati Bengals. Fortunately for him, the Jets are in need of capable guys to man their trenches, and they are counting on him to be disciplined and healthy enough to live up to their standards.

2) Marcus Cannon

One of the two most accomplished players on this list is, without a doubt, Marcus Cannon. He was a second-team All-Pro and won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots.

The Jets’ ultimate objective may have shifted from “win the Super Bowl” to “reach the playoffs again” at this point. That would ideally include strengthening the offensive line, and he could share his successful strategy with a group that has a history of doing the opposite.

1) Eric Fisher
The Achilles injury suffered by Eric Fisher during the 2020–21 AFC Championship Game became one of the worst curses in contemporary football. At Super Bowl LV, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense held Patrick Mahomes without a point for the first time in his career, as the Kansas City Chiefs were thoroughly defeated.

After that, he appeared to have been plagued with a pink slip and underwhelming one-year contracts with the Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts. He is now unrestricted, but the Jets may soon change that.
