A look back at Alexander Zverev’s ATP Finals performance over the years.
Alexander Zverev has become one of the most consistent and successful ATP Finals participants. Zverev previously qualified for the event five years in a row (2017-2021) and won it twice – in 2018 and 2021.
Zverev made his debut participation in the ATP Finals in 2017, where he was eliminated in the group round. The next year, he improved on his previous performance by overcoming Roger Federer in the quarterfinals and then defeating World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the final, 6-4, 6-3.
In 2019, Zverev reached the semifinals before losing in straight sets against Dominic Thiem, 7-5, 6-3. On his way to the last four, he overcame Rafael Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Daniil Medvedev.
The 26-year-old did not go past the round-robin stage in 2020. He won two matches, against Diego Schwartzman and Medvedev, but lost in straight sets against Djokovic, 6-3, 7-6(4).
The German, now an Olympic gold champion, then won four of five matches at the 2021 ATP Finals, only losing to Medvedev in the second round robin. In the final, Alexander Zverev defeated reigning champion Dmitry Medvedev in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
