Alexander Knappe gets emotional on managing to keep his Tour card for next season
For many golfers, they desire to play on the PGA Tour or the DP World Tour; Alexander Knappe is one of the select few who has achieved this goal. For any golfer, receiving a tour card may be an exciting event, but for many pros, maintaining that status throughout the season can prove to be a difficult undertaking.
Even while spectators often see the excitement and awards associated with professional golf competitions, players such as Knappe also have challenges in maintaining their status in the sport. But the German golfer was lucky enough to be guaranteed a spot on the DP World Tour for the next year.
After Alexander Knappe scored the necessary points to keep his DP World Tour card, he was overcome with emotion during his post-game interview. At the Qatar Masters in Doha, he finished in T36, which allowed him to move up into the top 116 and earn the retention.
“I’m stunned—that battle was intense. I didn’t want to display any feelings, like I told you.”
In an interview given after the game, Alexander Knappe added:
“I was crying in my room this morning, and it was a hard day, but I managed to get it done and got another season.”
