Alabama Quarterback Battle Updates from Nick Saban
College Football Season has started and every team has been making all the important decisions for the upcoming seasons.
Following that Alabama head coach Nick Saban doesn’t have a clear-cut starter at quarterback for the 2023 season. At least not yet.
Saban appeared on a radio show on Thursday night and said that in order for them to have a fixed look on the starting quarterback will depend on the performance of the of the player who will take up the position in the next match.
“The quarterback who plays on Saturday, that’s the quarterback for Saturday,” Saban said. “The life of a quarterback, any quarterback, depends on how they perform. If a guy plays well, that’s what creates security at that position, and if you don’t play well — because the first thing everybody does when you have success, the quarterback gets a lot of credit. But also, when things don’t go well, the first guy they point at is the quarterback. So a guy’s got to understand that the way he performs is really, really important.”
Saban added that he’d like to play multiple quarterbacks this Saturday against Middle Tennessee State.
“So I’ve told guy that’s going to start the game that we want you to play well enough so that we have an opportunity to play other guys at the position because that’s important to us. But whoever starts the game, it’s not their job in perpetuity because they have to perform well. And because they don’t have a lot of experience, I think we’re all interested in seeing how they all perform.”

Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, and Tyler Buchner have been trying to win the main quarterback spot in Tuscaloosa.
Last year, Milroe did well with 297 yards throwing the ball, 263 yards running, and scored a total of six touchdowns for the Crimson Tide. We’ll have to wait and see if Coach Saban figures out who his quarterback will be on Saturday.
