Ajay Jadeja Takes on Mentor Role for Afghanistan in Cricket World Cup

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has chosen former Indian cricket captain Ajay Jadeja as a mentor for the ICC ODI World Cup in India.

Jadeja played 15 test matches for India between 1992 and 2000, scoring 576 runs with 4 half-centuries and a best score of 96. He also played 196 ODIs, scoring 5359 runs with 6 centuries and 30 fifties. Additionally, he participated in 111 first-class matches, accumulating 8100 runs, and 291 List A games, scoring over 8300 runs.

In the past World Cups, Afghanistan only won once against Scotland in 2015, losing all nine matches in the 2019 tournament.

Afghanistan’s first match in the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup will be against Bangladesh at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on October 7.

Afghanistan’s World Cup squad includes Hashmatullah Shahidi (captain), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Riaz Hassan, Rahmat Shah, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Ikram Alikhil, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Abdul Rahman, and Naveen-ul-Haq.
