After two seasons on LIV Golf, Bernd Wiesberger’s DP World Tour membership has been renewed

Bernd Wiesberger is returning to the DP World Tour after two seasons with LIV Golf. He was one of five professional golfers whose LIV Golf tour contract for the 2024 season was not extended.

The 38-year-old golfer announced his return to the European Tour with a post on X (previously Twitter). In a statement, he stated his ideas on making a comeback.

“I am pleased to announce that my sole focus for next year will be the DP World Tour.” I’ve never relinquished my membership. Therefore, I’m thankful for the opportunity to play a full program once more.”

The DP World Tour stated on their official website that Bernd Wiesberger’s membership application for the 2024 season has been accepted. For the next season, he has been excused from Category 11.

After failing to compete in the Tour’s minimum-needed tournaments, the Austrian golfer’s membership was terminated, and “he was removed from the Race to Dubai” for the 2023 season.

Bernd Wiesberger, on the other hand, registered for DP World Tour membership and stated his intention to play the entire 2024 season.

“He subsequently expressed his desire to play a full DP World Tour schedule in 2024 and has fulfilled all sanctions – both financial and tournament suspensions – that were imposed upon him for breaches of the Tour’s conflicting event regulation across 2022 and 2023,” the statement went on to say.

Bernd Wiesberger’s request was approved by DP World Tour Chief Executive Keith Pelley since he met all of the criteria, including financials and suspension. According to the processes outlined in the Members’ Regulations, he has been granted permission to participate in the 2024 season.

The Austrian golfer has won eight European Tour titles. From 2011 until 2021, he was involved with the Tour.

He has competed in 291 events, missing the cut in 70 of them. Wiesberger had previously represented Europe in the 2021 Ryder Cup.
