After Jets, Patriots Said ‘No’ To Veteran RB Dalvin Cook
After the New York Jets, another NFL team said, ‘No’ to veteran running back Dalvin Cook.
The New England Patriots are not going to sign a contract with former Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook. Last week’s Dalvin’s meeting with the Jets didn’t go well. Good for the Jets currently running back Breece Hall.
Although, the Patriots have been keeping an eye on running back Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliot for quite some time. They have also invited several veteran backs to Foxboro for workouts including these Elliot and Cook.
Via The Athletic, The Patriots have decided to cancel on Ezekiel Elliot.
Howe from The Athletic wrote, “The Jets have shown heavy interest in Dalvin Cook, but there haven’t been any recent developments on that, according to a league source. The Patriots, who had some peripheral interest in Cook, are now almost certainly not going in that direction, according to a league source.”
According to Jeff Howe, the Patriots are still interested highly Interested in former Dallas Cowboys RB Elliot. But why? The possible reason could be financial as reportedly Cook demands to earn $10 million from his next franchise.
That is way out of the budget, what the Patriots offered the running back in the past. It’s been said, that Zeke would be much cheaper than the Cook.
The Patriots still go with the rookie Rhamondre Stevenson for the RB1 in the 2023 NFL season.
