Addressing the Biggest Issues in Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, a remaster of the 2011 game, was released on February 24, 2023, for the Nintendo Switch. The game follows Kirby, Waddle Dee, King Dedede, and Meta Knight as they assist Magolor in retrieving his spaceship parts. While the game has many new features and tweaks, there are still some improvements that could be made via patches.

Add AI Partners and Online Co-Op

One of the main attractions of the remaster is the four-player couch co-op mode, which is rare in today’s gaming world. However, the game could use AI partners for solo players, as they were available in past Kirby games. Additionally, the game lacks online support for multiplayer, which could be easily added for players to enjoy the campaign and mini-games with friends or strangers.

Access Magolor Epilogue and Difficulty Modes

The Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler, a new mode in the remaster, can only be accessed after beating the game. This mode allows players to control Magolor and go through levels to retrieve his powers. It would be better if players could access this mode right away instead of waiting until they finish the game. The game also has a traditional difficulty mode, but it only unlocks after players complete 70% of the game. It would be helpful to have this mode available from the start to increase the challenge for players.

Suck With Copy Abilities and Better Retrospective

In Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, Kirby cannot suck enemies while equipped with a Copy ability, which can be frustrating when trying to remove stone pillars and blocks. Nintendo could add a way for players to put the Copy ability away without discarding it, making the gameplay less clunky. The game also has a Past Adventures gallery that allows players to look back on Kirby’s past, but it is minimal and could use improvement. Nintendo could add more details about game releases, and platforms, and include trailers and gameplay footage.

Controller Settings

The game has two controllers presets, Type A and Type B, with Type B being the recommended option for platformer veterans. However, Nintendo could add a way for players to program every button as they, please.

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is an enjoyable game with many new features and tweaks, but it could use some improvements via patches. Adding AI partners and online co-op would enhance the multiplayer experience while allowing access to Magolor Epilogue and difficulty modes right away would increase the challenge. Making the gameplay less clunky by allowing Kirby to suck enemies with Copy abilities and improving the retrospective in the Past Adventures gallery would also be beneficial. Finally, adding more customizable controller settings would be a great addition for players who prefer a specific setup.
