Forbes reports that Draymond Green may be able to opt out of his contract this season
At the end of the season, Draymond Green could opt out of his contract with the Golden State Warriors. In an interview, the former defensive player of the year discussed his decision regarding his contract.
Green explained that the Warriors have luxury concerns. He would have loved to play in Golden State for the rest of his career, but he acknowledges the business mind of the NBA.
In a practice, he punched Jordan Poole and sealed his fate in the offseason. He also discussed the incident with Taylor, and he also explained that his relationship with Poole changed but their bond as teammates remained unchanged.
Draymond Green wants a max contract
Green is looking for maximum money for his next contract. Anthony and Marcus reported last year that Green was seeking a five-year, $164 million deal from the Golden State Warriors. The defending champions prioritized Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins.
Before the season started, the Warriors secured Poole and Wiggins by giving them new contracts. If the Golden State wants Green, they would have to pay a huge luxury tax; if they don’t, the four-time champion will indeed enter the free agent market.
Including the LA Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Detroit Pistons, Green has already been linked with several teams. This summer Lakers will have a lot of money, and Green is good friends with LeBron James.
Draymond Green Addresses Future With Warriors
Many of us speculated that Draymond Green’s decision to punch Jordan Poole could end his time with the Golden State Warriors. On Thursday, when he was asked about this, Green said that his focus remains on winning another championship this season.
After this season, both sides will decide what is best for them, & Draymond will have the ability to determine if he wants to opt in or out of his final year with the Warriors.
