Aaron Rodgers’s Arrival to the New York Jets Might Cost Them Over $100 Million in 2024
Football star Aaron Rodgers is all set to join the New York Jets, but his addition has turned out to be quite expensive even before he plays a game for them. The exact cost is still unknown because the Jets and Rodgers haven’t agreed on a new contract for the next two seasons.
Before the trade, Rodgers did a favor to his old team, the Green Bay Packers, by postponing his $58.3 million option bonus until 2024. This made it easier for the Packers to send him to New York and allowed him to keep the money he was owed by Green Bay.
However, there’s a catch: If they don’t make any changes for 2024, Rodgers will cost the Jets a whopping $107.55 million in that year alone, way more than the $1.165 million for 2023 as per Mike Florio of NBC’s Pro Football Talk.
In May, the Jets and Aaron Rodgers were working on reconfiguring his contract. The work still continues, even after training camp has opened. https://t.co/mzyED8xRHB

Of course, the Jets don’t want to pay such a huge amount for just one player in a single season. They’re working with Rodgers to come to an agreement and split the money over the final two years of his contract.
We’re not sure exactly when they’ll sort this out, but Jets’ general manager Joe Douglas is confident they’ll restructure the contract before the season kicks off. The final details of how the expenses will be divided are still up in the air.
