49ers Trey Lance Traded To The Dallas Cowboys

The NFL quarterback Trey Lance’s three-year journey has been over with San Francisco, as the 49ers traded the former No. 3 overall pick to the Cowboys for a fourth-round draft pick.

So how much do the Cowboys owe their new QB Trey Lance after the trade?

According to Albert Breer, Sports Illustrated, the 49ers already paid Lance a $2.82 million roster bonus for this year, and the Cowboys are only on the hook for $940,000 in base salary.

Speaking of next year, the Cowboys will owe Lance $5.31 million. That money for the 2024 season is fully guaranteed.

While talking to the reporters, the 49ers Coach said that Lance wanted to be the first or second-option quarterback for another team. He was listed as the No. 3 quarterback in San Francisco behind Brock Purdy and Sam Darnold.

Shanahan said, “He told us that he would like another opportunity to go somewhere where he had a chance to be the No. 2. We thought we got some good deals for him; there was a number of teams involved. To end up getting the fourth was a little better than we anticipated and clears up a lot of money and allows a better situation for him, too.”

But it seems like Trey Lance has to satisfy with no. 3 position quarterback after Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush in the Dallas Cowboys.
