4-Star Wide Receiver Zavier Betts Quits Nebraska College Football Team

The breaking news coming from the Nebraska Cornhuskers, their 4-star wide receiver Zavier Betts quit the Football team.

In the midst of the 2023 College Football season, Nebraska’s WR left the team. Cornhuskers head coach Matt Rhule announced on Saturday that Zavier Betts has left the team.

According to coach Rhule, why bets left the team hasn’t invested yet. Rhule said via the Athletic reporter,

“He came to me and said, ‘Hey coach, my heart’s not in it. I’m very, very, very proud of Zavier as a person, getting eligible. I think he intends to stay in school and work to graduate. Obviously, as I told him, I’m disappointed in the timing. But what we ask people to do is hard. If their heart’s not in it, we certainly understand.”

This is not Zavier’s first time leaving the team. Prior to that in 2022 he left the team before being welcomed back by the new coaching staff over the winter. He only played 18 games for the team in 2020-21. Per 247sports, Betts was a former four-star recruit in the 2020 class and was the No. 112 overall player in that class.

According to the Athletic Report, “The 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver had been expected to play a key role among the Nebraska pass catchers this season after the Huskers lost five of their top six producing receivers and tight ends from last season.”

Well, Zavier Bett calls it off and his journey with Nebraska ends in 2023.
