ESPN announced they will lay off around 20 on-air talent to cut some of their losses and saves tons of money.
On this list, Jeff Van Gundy’s name was on top. The former Head Coach of the Houston Rockets and Broadcast Veteran Jeff Van Gundy spend 16 years for ESPN as a Top NBA sports commentator.
And Now ESPN released one of the top on-air talent Jeff from the channel. However, the NBA spot will be empty after Gundy so ESPN is looking for possible recruits for the post.
According to the New York Post reporters Andrew Marchand and Ryan Glasspiegel, ESPN has some internal candidates to replace the Van. These three could be JJ Redick, Doris Burke, and Richard Jefferson.
They wrote in the New York Post article, “ESPN is expected to replace Van Gundy on its No. 1 team. Internally, JJ Redick, Doris Burke and Richard Jefferson are the most likely candidates,”
Redick and Jefferson are both NBA veterans who have been serving as analysts for the network for years now.
Burke has been covering the NBA for decades and has experience doing play-by-play calling.
Who will be the next NBA sportscaster on ESPN among these three? will see in the future.
