3 Offenders Involved In Fatal Shooting Of Mr. Indianapolis, Sentenced 100-Plus Years in Prison
Former Indianapolis football player Chris Beaty’s offenders sentenced to 100-plus years in prison.
Marcus Anderson and Alijah Jones and Nakeyah Shields, all three received prison for being involved in the fatal shooting of Beaty. Where Marcus Anderson and Alijah Jones were sentenced to 164 years in jail, Nakeyah Shields will be in prison for 108 years.
All three were convicted of robbery multiple times. Chris Beaty was shot multiple times outside of his apartment on May 30, 2020. This happened in Minneapolis during a time of confusion when police murdered George Floyd.
Chris Beaty won three state titles with Cathedral High School before joining the Hoosiers’ defensive line in 2000. Chris Beaty aka Mr. Indianapolis was the owner of a local business who also established the scholarship for schools.
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears said, “Today we are grateful to the Beaty family for the dignity, grace, and patience they have continuously displayed throughout this difficult process,”
Continued with, “Chris tragically lost his life while caring for others and his city. His death was felt by many throughout Indianapolis, Bloomington, and beyond.”
