3 Frontrunners to Chase after Alex Caruso, Chicago Bulls
Alex Caruso is a well-known player p[laying for Chicago Bulls. He had signed a 4-year contract and according to Alex Caruso’s contract he signed with the Chicago Bulls in 2021, he will be earning $37 million and is about to start his third season out of a four-year deal. In the upcoming 2023-24 season, he is set to earn $9.46 million, but only a portion of his $9.89 million salary in the following season, 2024-25, is guaranteed.
Caruso recently had an outstanding season with the Bulls, which many consider to be the pinnacle of his professional career. Although he had better offensive stats in previous years, particularly during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2019-20, Caruso’s recent performance with the Bulls showcased his most significant impact.
In the 2022-23 season, he achieved his highest career field goal percentage of 45.5% and the third-best three-point shooting percentage of 36.4%. Moreover, he earned a spot on the NBA All-Defensive First Team, which was a crucial accomplishment.
Regrettably, while Caruso thrived individually, the Bulls as a team faced difficulties. They are currently undergoing a period of uncertainty, and as a result, DeMar DeRozan is the most likely player to be traded. However, Caruso may also be on the way out.
In the event that Chicago decides to move Caruso to another team, three leading teams that he can join. The Phoenix Suns stand as the first option. According to Evan Sidery of Forbes, the Suns’ new head coach, Frank Vogel, greatly admires Caruso’s abilities. Vogel and Caruso previously won a championship together with the Lakers, and during their time together, Vogel described Caruso as “one of our best players.”
Specifically, Sidery highlighted Caruso’s defensive skills and shooting ability, which he believes would naturally align with the needs of the Phoenix Suns.
Other than the Suns, they will also have to keep an eye out for Sacramento Kings. According to NBA analyst Mike Cruz, in the first-round series game of this year, the Kings faced off against Golden State Warriors and realized their team’s defensive liabilities.
“The Kings had a lot of trouble dealing with Stephen Curry,” he wrote.
“They especially had no answer for the two-time MVP in Game 7, where Curry went bonkers and dropped 50 points. Alex Caruso might just be the answer to that. Sacramento could trade Richaun Holmes, who essentially wasn’t a part of the Kings rotation, and maybe a few more draft assets to acquire the Bald Mamba.
“…It’s absolutely impossible to contain an elite offensive maestro like Curry. But Caruso has shown in the past that he can disrupt and frustrate the Warriors superstar.”
On multiple occasions, the Head coach Steve Kerr talked about Caruso’s playing style. It’s almost like Kerr being mocking the Lakers for letting him go and insisted that the Warriors be one of five NBA teams to kick the tires on a potential trade for him last year.
