2022-23 Rankings of the NBA latest MVP ladder and power Ft: Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic & more…
The race for the 2022–23 NBA MVP changed last week as Brooklyn Nets superstar forward Kevin Durant went down with a right MCL sprain. He will be missed for around one month, which will certainly hurt his MVP chances.
However, he will remain in the MVP race for now. Having played nine more games than the Philadelphia 76ers superstar center Joel Embiid, he continues to re-enter the top five.
There is a list of people we will learn about further who are presently in the top 5.
So here is the week’s MVP ladder.
5) Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks
According to last week’s MVP rankings, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is having his best week of the season, which included him averaging 42.7 points and 17.0 rebounds per game over three games.
However, Antetokounmpo averaged just 12.7 points per game on 34.4% shooting over three games last week, one of his worst weeks of the season, and as a result, his weak rankings get dropped. In a race, even a couple of seconds will be costly for the player’s ranking.
4) Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics
The Celtics got back on track last week, going 4-0 to improve to a league-best 31-12 record. The forward superstar of the Celtics also had a great week, scoring 30-plus points in three of four games.
Overall, Tatum continues to be the leading scorer on the best team in the league, till now. Tatum also sets a record against New Orleans, scoring a 31-point double-double versus New Orleans.
3) Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets
As we know, Durant suffered from a right MCL sprain earlier this week against Miami.
However, he has not taken away what he has accomplished this season. So he is still on the list with the most points of his career while shooting a career-high 55.9% and 93.4% at the line.
Before his recent injury, Durant missed only one game. However, the Nets remain second in the Eastern Conference at 27-14, thanks in large part to Durant’s strong play.
2) Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks
Dallas’ superstar, Luka Doncic, continued his dominance last week, scoring 30-plus points in all three games. The star also put up a 43-point double-double against the Clippers, which led him to an average of a 37-point triple-double for the entire week.
This man not only raised his name but also his team from a below-average MAV to success.
Without Doncic, the MAVs were 0-4 & with him, Dallas now sits at 24-19 and fourth in the Western Conference.
1) Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets
The hero of Denver is making his back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic lead Denver to a perfect 3-0 week after averaging a 21-point triple-double. He has also made some NBA history against the Lakers.
However, Jokic is very close to averaging a 25-point triple-double on the season on 61.8% shooting. So the Nuggets will be the first team in the Western Conference at 28-13. Once again, Jokic remains the frontrunner to win his 3rd straight MVP.
