1 NBA Team is Interested in Damian Lillard Following Blazers Trade Rumors
Damian Lillard, a professional basketball player surprisingly made a trade decision and might join another team in the near future. He just made the request and there is already a team who have their eyes on him.
Although it seems like Lillard wants to go to the Miami Heat, other teams are also interested in acquiring him.
Portland still needs to get a good deal for Lillard, and if Miami wants him, they need to involve another team in the trade.
According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Blazers’ GM, Joe Cronin, wants a return package that includes a star player, and he is looking at options beyond just the Miami Heat.
In the last day, the Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as a surprise contender for Lillard’s services. Even though Lillard hasn’t shown much interest in joining Joel Embiid and the Sixers, Philadelphia can offer the best package compared to other teams.
They could trade James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers for more trade assets and include a future first-round draft pick, a pick swap, Tyrese Maxey, and expiring contracts.
While Lillard prefers Miami over Philadelphia, things can change quickly in situations like this. Unless you have a special clause in your contract that allows you to choose where you go, you don’t always end up exactly where you want.
The Clippers are also a team to watch out for. They have been strongly connected to James Harden recently, to the extent that even Kawhi Leonard has commented on the possibility. However, Damian Lillard is undeniably a better player than Harden.
Nevertheless, the trade packages that the Clippers are proposing, even if they involve Terrence Mann, aren’t as good as what Miami or Philadelphia can offer.
In the NBA, star players usually get what they want, and Lillard wants to join the Miami Heat. But if that doesn’t work out in the end, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him end up in Philadelphia.
